Our Secret Village

My husband and I have visited this tiny village several times now, and each time I come back to it I am amazed at the number of paintings it continues to give me. The village only has about 75 permanent families, and just one tourist facility, a gourmet restaurant with a two-room inn. It is our secret jewel.

The whole village is shown in the photo above, with one of the walkways at the left. A few hundred meters out of town is this aqueduct-bearing stone bridge, and stone house.

Every Spaniard has his or her home village which they return to from time to time, for resuccitation. We feel we have found our long lost home village. And we appreciate the warmth with which we have been received and taken in.

One of the days we were there, they had a village celebration, with Paella cooked for all. They're getting it ready in the photo to the right.

We have visited many other villages in the mountains of Spain, and none compares to our secret jewell. It is completely non-touristic, unbelievably photogenic, friendly beyond belief. And the villagers help us feel right at home in "our" village.
